This website gives you unbiased information about all of the best (and worst) brands of food that are available through retailers. Please also take a moment to sign up for email alerts that will let you know the minute recalls are issued!
Although there isn't really an AKC equivalent for cats, The International Cat Association and the Cat Fancier's Association both provide a registry, breed standards, opportunities for showing cats, and much, much more.

If you find a lost pet with a microchip, AAHA offers a lookup to help identify the registry for that particular chip. This can help you find the owner's contact information.
